Step by step

What happens

  1. 1

    The order arrives in Cooking

    The moment the counter taps "Send to kitchen", the order shows in the Cooking column with the time it arrived.

  2. 2

    Tap Mark ready

    When the food is up, tap Mark ready. The counter sees it and serves the table.

  3. 3

    Tap Mark served

    Once it has gone out, tap Mark served. The order leaves the kitchen screen.

What you get

  • Works in Chrome on an Android phone or tablet, so the kitchen needs no new hardware
  • Each order shows the table, the items and how long it has waited
  • Cancelled orders show on the screen with who cancelled and when. The kitchen taps to confirm it saw them.
  • The kitchen or the counter can mark a dish "Sold out today" on the menu, so it stops being sold

What it does not do

  • If the internet stops, new orders and payments cannot be confirmed until it is back. Anything already sent is safe. Nivala does not bill offline.
  • The kitchen screen is a web page, not a printer. A kitchen printer is optional and not required.
  • It shows orders, not recipes or cooking steps.
